How to compare two PDFs without uploading them

  1. 1Add the original PDF, then the changed version. Your browser opens both; nothing is sent anywhere.
  2. 2Optionally choose Ignore Arabic diacritics and letter variants.
  3. 3Select Compare and go through the pages that changed.
  4. 4Read the differences: removed words are struck through, added words highlighted, and areas that look different outlined.

What happens to your file

Both files' text and page images are compared inside this browser tab. Neither file is uploaded, and the working copies are cleared when you close the tab.

Frequently asked questions

What does the comparison find?

Words that were added or removed on each page, pages that were added or removed, and, if you leave it on, areas that look different, such as a changed image, signature or stamp.

What if pages were inserted or deleted?

Pages are matched by their text, so an inserted page is shown as added and the pages after it are still compared with their counterparts, not reported as all changed.

Does it work with Arabic?

Yes. Arabic is compared word by word. You can also ignore diacritics and letter variants, so «أحمد» and «احمد» count as the same word.

Can it compare scanned documents?

Their appearance, yes: areas that look different are outlined. Their text cannot be compared, because scanned pages hold pictures of text rather than text.

Are my files uploaded to be compared?

No. Both files are compared in your browser, on your device.

Does Compare PDF work offline?

Yes, after you've compared two files once while online. The engine is saved then, and later comparisons run without internet.
