Options
Add a PDF file to make it smaller.
Result
The result will appear here after processing.
How to use it
Add a PDF and choose Low, Medium or High. Photographs inside the file are reduced to the resolution of that level, and the file is repacked. You see the size before and after.
How it works
Your file is processed entirely in your browser, on your device. It is never uploaded to a server, and we never see its contents or keep any part of it.
Frequently asked questions
How much smaller will my PDF get?
It depends on what is inside. Files with large photographs or scans often shrink a lot; text-only files shrink a little because there is little to remove. The page shows the exact before and after sizes.
Can compressing make my file larger?
No. If the result would not be smaller, your original is kept unchanged and the page says so.
Will text still be selectable?
Yes. Only images are reduced. Text, fonts, links and layout are not changed.
What do Low, Medium and High mean?
Low keeps images at up to 200 dpi with high quality, Medium at up to 150 dpi, High at up to 110 dpi for the smallest file. Medium is the default.
Is my file uploaded to be compressed?
No. Everything happens in your browser. The free plan accepts files up to 50 MB.
Does it work on every image?
It reduces ordinary photographs. It leaves alone images with transparency, black-and-white scans, CMYK print images and images that are already small, because changing them would harm them. Images inside some embedded content cannot be reduced yet, and the result tells you how many.
