How to convert a PDF to text without uploading it

  1. 1Choose or drop a PDF. Your browser opens it; nothing is sent anywhere.
  2. 2Choose Markdown (headings and lists) or plain text (lines as in the PDF).
  3. 3Optionally list the pages, and choose whether to mark where each page ends.
  4. 4Select Extract text, then copy it or download the file.

What happens to your file

The text is read from the PDF inside this browser tab, with Arabic in reading order. Your file is never uploaded, and the working copy is cleared when you close the tab.

Frequently asked questions

Plain text or Markdown?

Plain text keeps the lines as they are in the PDF. Markdown rebuilds the structure: headings from larger or bold text, bulleted and numbered lists, and whole paragraphs, ready for notes apps, wikis and AI assistants.

Is Arabic text extracted correctly?

Yes. Arabic comes out in reading order, with joined letters such as lam-alef put back in the right order.

Why is my result empty?

The pages are probably scanned images: they look like text but contain only pictures. Their text can be read with the OCR tool, which also makes the PDF searchable.

Are tables kept?

The text of a table is extracted row by row, but not as a table. Check the result if the layout matters.

Is my PDF uploaded to extract its text?

No. The text is read in your browser, and copying it uses your own clipboard. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Does PDF to text work offline?

Yes, after you've extracted text once while online. The engine is saved then, and later jobs run without internet.
